1My First Experience Photographing Fire Spinners

My First Experience Photographing Fire Spinners

Apr 6, 2015

I think there are some awesome things that can be done with light trails, whether from cars in traffic, steel wool spinning, or just plain-old fire twirlers. But I had no idea whether it would work with an iPhone, and I hadn’t seen any information about it (or hadn’t looked, either one). So when I […]

2Chasing a Sunset Didn’t Work Out Today

Chasing a Sunset Didn’t Work Out Today

Apr 1, 2015

The weather today was beautiful, and it may very well have (finally) been the first day post-winter! For most of the day, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and it was warm enough to ride my bike without a jacket of any kind. As late afternoon came along, a few white clouds appeared here and […]

3Snowy Richmond

Snowy Richmond

Mar 21, 2015

I love to get one good snow each winter. It keeps things interesting (especially if it’s going to be cold anyway), and a city under snow is just different. This year, we had snow on three separate occasions, which was a little more than I’d like. But, it did allow me to capture some photos that […]

Finalist for Germany Tourism’s #joingermantradition Photo Contest!

Mar 5, 2015

Well guys, I didn’t win. But it sure was uplifting to know that I was named one of just five finalists for this photo contest.

5Richmond, Virginia

Richmond, Virginia

Mar 1, 2015

Richmond is my home base, and has a lot more to offer than one might think. Between a riverside skyline, hilltop views, old railroad tracks, and more, there’s plenty to show off in pictures. I look forward to finding new places to take photos, and will continue to add to this gallery.

6Getting Up Early For A One-Of-A-Kind Sunrise

Getting Up Early For A One-Of-A-Kind Sunrise

Feb 19, 2015

I’m not one to get up early if I don’t have to. That’s not to say I will lay in bed all day, but rare is the day when I’m up in time to see the sunrise. It’s hard to find the motivation to get out for something so early, when there’ll be another one […]

7Step by Step Image: Lake Eola Turtles

Step by Step Image: Lake Eola Turtles

Jan 26, 2015

During a visit to Florida over the holidays, I went with Erin and my family to downtown Orlando and Lake Eola. Like any lake in Florida, there’s an abundance of wildlife, and it gave me the opportunity to use a new smartphone photography tool – my selfie stick (though I didn’t use it for a […]

8Landscape vs. Portrait: Which Orientation to Use?

Landscape vs. Portrait: Which Orientation to Use?

Jan 20, 2015

When I first started taking photos with my phone, I often held the phone upright, in portrait orientation, without giving it a second thought.

92015 Goals

2015 Goals

Jan 13, 2015

With a new year come new goals! I have a few (admittedly basic) goals as I really start getting more serious about iPhone photography. So, no further introduction is needed, I think. Here they are! 1. Improve my long-exposure abilities. Some of the photographs I admire the most are long exposures. With long-exposure, you can […]

10Step-by-Step: How I Created This Photo

Step-by-Step: How I Created This Photo

Jan 5, 2015

Sometimes you have to create the scene that you want, and that was the case with this photo. I really wanted a silhouetted subject to contrast with the bright colors of the ocean, but I didn’t have enough time to wait for someone to walk by on their own. So, I got some help. First, […]
